Mimio Check-Ins for Winter!

Hey blogging buddies!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is already next week!! I sure can’t! This year is FLYING by!!

With some free time on my hands… and before I head to Waco to watch the KState vs. Baylor game (KSU!!!)… I thought I would share my check-ins that I use in my classroom.

The students LOVE these! I enjoy changing them up with the season.

First Mimio Check-In:

Students move their present under the Christmas Tree. The tree will get a bit crowded, but they still enjoy it!

January Check-In

The student’s LOVE this one! They will make sounds of what the snowball sounds like when it hits the penguin! They love it!

Hey all!!

Sorry for the lack of effort on my part!

Can I just say… growing a baby in your belly is EXHAUSTING!!

I have been VERY lucky, I have NOT had any morning sickness!! However, I was hit HARD with exhaustion! The idea of lifting a finger after work would make me instantly sleepy!

Thank you Pinterest for the idea of a chalkboard timeline! I plan on putting these in a book for Baby P. Then I can read it to him/her! :)

Right now, I am feeling like a lard whale. I know I am only 13 weeks… but nothing fits right and maternity clothes are too loose. So, I feel like I am busting out of the seams of everything. Blah…

2nd Trimester hit this week and I can feel a change in my personality! I have more energy and more spunk! Boy, have I missed my spunk! Welcome back old friend!!

Click on the image and it will take you to Google Documents where these babies are yours!

Cut them up.

Shuffle.

Pile them face down.

Student picks up ONE card at a time. If they say the word correctly, they keep the card. If not, it goes back in the pile.

If the student picks up a BOO! card, they have to put ALL their cards back in the pile!

2 + 1 = 3….. Exciting News!

The reason I have been MIA is because….. I have NO energy y’all!!!

We are PREGNANT!!!!! Woooohooo!!!

I can’t express how EXCITED we are!

I am 8 weeks along and have been SOOOOO exhausted! No morning sickness, but I’m just EXHAUSTED!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Trees!

Hopefully everyone's school year is off to a GREAT start! I know it’s week 4 and I am JUST getting a post up! I think the Zumba class I went to tonight put some pep in my step!

Hey friends! Sorry I have been MIA lately! Beginning of school routines are being established! Plus, I had a wedding this weekend in Kansas! Plus some other exciting things are happening at Patterson’s Porch! I hope to share with you guys next week!

I plan on taking pictures of the students holding their date this week. Example: Student’s birthday is September 7. They will hold up a 7 and I will put their picture under September.

Whooooooo’s ready for 1st grade?? I AM!!!

My classroom is finally feeling like it’s ready for some OWL-some kids!! I got my class list and I can’t wait to meet the new 22 smiling faces! Check out my pictures below!

Welcome to Mrs. Patterson’s Nest…. Come on in!!

This is my teacher desk area. Behind the curtains are all my guided reading resources binders that I need, and level readers.

Word Wall area. The boxes are to help prepare for Meet The Teacher. The boxes underneath are all my books separated by themes.

This is my file cabinet, reading/math manipulatives, and pocket chart center.

 

This view is of the board that I will use to post information for the kids. The pocket charts on the left are to show students where they go for centers. The magnets in the middle are for me to put my objectives for the week. Then I have a spot for “Wise Choices”. This is where students will look for what they can do when they are finished early.

My calendar area. Actually, it’s my “faux calendar area”. I used Mimio for my calendar last year, and I am going to do it again for this year. However, this calendar is there for reference and for when substitutes are in the classroom.

This will the the front of the room. Our school was recently tiled and a rug is on its way! I have my Fundations cards on the left and my daily schedule will go on the right. Then my projector will project onto the white board.

These red cabinets store all my personal belongings and other school thingies. I have my classroom jobs hot glued to the left. Then how students go home each day. The check in chart that will use clothes pins as clips with their name and lunch number on it. They will use it to tell me if they need school lunch or brought their lunch. I also made a Mimio document for them to check it. But having this as well helps for when subs are in the room. Then to the right is their color chart. Students will be able to move down when making bad choices or up when making the right choices.

Then the student computer area.

Here I will hang student work per subject.
